About the Project
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital – Critical Care Tower – HVAC / Plumbing / Medical Gas
- Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Critical Care Tower was a cornerstone project in reestablishing Coastal’s presence in the South Florida market. The new bed tower addition included a Hybrid MRI/OR suite, 32 CVICU Rooms, 36 PICU Rooms, 36 NICU Rooms, and 7 Bone Marrow Transplant Rooms. Of these rooms, 13 were airborne isolation rooms, and 11 were HEPA-filtered protective environment rooms. To support the new tower, Coastal added a 1,200-ton York Chiller, paired with a two-cell Marley cooling tower. Also added were two 400-HP Cleaver Brooks steam boilers, with a new dearator and surge tank.
- Thanks to the leadership of Robins and Morton and teamwork with Coastal’s trade partners, the Critical Care Tower was the first project completed on time for the current administration of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. This world-class facility has allowed Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to provide the best in care to its patients, from newborns to teenagers.
